Legal Financial Obligations

State v. Blake impacted Washington Courts starting in 2021. This Supreme Court decision required Clerk’s Offices to work in conjunction with prosecutors, auditors, treasurers, state agencies, defense attorneys and offenders to refund Legal Financial Obligations impacted by the court decision.

Through accurate tracking and analyzing, Jenn was able to recoup roughly $90,000 from the State of Washington.

Electronic Filing System

In 2023, Jenn implemented an improved electronic filing system in an effort to improve efficiency and reduce the burden on court users.

This new system, TrueFile, allows pro se litigants, attorneys and state agencies to conveniently file court documents from their location.

TrueFile Benefits
  • Reduced turnaround time
  • Eliminates lost mail risk
  • Improves public convenience
  • Self-funded by 2025

Court Calendars & Zoom Access

Court calendars and Zoom links began being published on the Douglas County Clerk’s website in 2022.

The convenience of being able to electronically access a Zoom link to attend hearings instead of calling in for a link is an asset to court users.

“Easy public access promotes transparency for Douglas County residents.”

What Is To Come

Washington State Archives

The Douglas County Clerk’s Office has been on a waiting list since 2025 to work in conjunction with the Washington State Archives for document retention.

This partnership would provide another safeguard in preservation of court documents while also creating another way for the public to access documents.

New & Improved Jury System

Juror participation is crucial to the Criminal Justice System.

Jenn and staff have been collaborating with a vendor to develop a new jury system for Douglas County.

This system would allow for electronic responses from the community and text message reminders regarding important dates and times.
